As Nigerians continue to worry about the state of insecurity in the
nation, a man suspected to be a bomber was yesterday arrested in Ado
Ekiti for an alleged attempt to bomb Government House, the official
residence of the state governor, Dr.Kayode Fayemi
Interestingly, this is taking place about 24 hours to the judgment of
the Supreme Courtof Nigeria, which is expected on the case instituted
by the former governor of the state, Engr. Segun Oni, challenging his
removal from office and subsequent declaration of Governor Kayode
Fayemi as thevalidly elected Governor in the 2007 and 2009
elections in thestate.
The suspected bomber was said to have been conveyed to the spot by a
motorbike rider who was said to have escaped arrest as soon as he
dropped the suspect in front of the main gate of the Government's
House. However, the alleged bomber was said to be makinga frantic
attempt to contact some people through his telephone, a development
that gave room for suspicion that he had a sinister motive.
While he was busy making his phonecalls, a civil servant simply known
as Johnson, was said to have queried his mission in that
restricted area, which is about six poles to the Governor's Lodge. The
civil servant, Vanguard further gathered alerted the security details
at the main gate of the Government's House.
The security officers dispossessed the suspect of some of his personal
belongings. Some of the items found on the suspect include explosive
device and other dangerous weapons, evencharms, knives and other
