THE communal crisis between Ofa and Erin-Ile in Ofa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara State, which reportedly resumed on Tuesday, has claimed many casualties at both warring communities. Nigerian Tribune gathered thatthe clash ensued when a trader from Erin-Ile came to Ofa to buy tyres and his vehiclehit another vehicle belonging to an indigene of Ofa, subsequently resulting in fracas.
An unconfirmed source said that no fewer than 10 lives were lost, with property worth millions of naira destroyed in the clash.
It was also gathered that security operatives from the state police command had been drafted to the area to restore law and order in the areas.
Also, the state government has advised individuals and groupswith any grievance to utilise lawful channels for dispute resolution rather than taking law into their own hands.
Speaking on the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Chinweke Asadu, who denied the rumour of the alleged killing, added that additional 40 anti-riot mobile policemen had been drafted to the area.
