Share & Comment

Leaknigerianews recent hook with Von Tae’ and we had a little interview with him, Von Tae born Devante Eugene Jones is Maryland singer and songwriter. He has went to tours partnered with Def Jam records,Big Cat Records and Warner Brother Records as well. His hard work and consistent hunger for more gave him “Male R&B Artist of the Year” by “The All Star Music Awards”He released  his first promo project titled, “Broken Boundaries of Existence” in 2011 and his working on new soul music.

Read the full interview below....

What got you into music

Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston,& Beyonce inspired me to pursue a career in music. I grew up on listening to their music. Others like Luther Vandross, The Temptations and AlGreen inspired me to sing as well. Thoseartists from back in the day who put that SOUL into their music really really brought out the passion that I have for music. So thanks to my family, who played their music daily, I am not an entertainer

How long have you been playing?<

Well, I am a singer so I don't"play" anything. I an a singer-songwriter and I have been singing since the age of 7 but I gave up when Puberty kicked in (laughs). Then in 2009 I got back into singing and started writing my own music which was a very different thing for me. So I learned how to write, and since that have been writing and singing since.

What's the most fun part of being a singerand a songwriter?

The fun part of being a singer-songwriter is the fact that I get torelease my tension, my happiness, my troubles and my life with the world. I also get to create a character and "BE" that character for about 3 minutes (laughs). But the best part about being a singer-songwriter is being able to create music that people will be about to become touched and empowered by. I think that's my niche to be honest. At the end of the day, it makes me happy

What is the hardest part?

The hardiest part about being a singer-songwriter is the fact that some people take certain songs too serious. My music is meant to be taken serious but I do have songs in which I write only for fun and party purposes. If i curse in a song or if I sing explicit lyrics, it's not to offend anyone, it's because IT IS WHAT IT IS. Not everything in life is perfect or to be censored. I like to KEEP IT REAL.

How many hours do you practic

It depends on what I am preparing for. If I am preparing for a show then I rehearse until I have everything down pat and everything is perfect. I am very passionate about my music and I make sure that before a show,or before an album, I try to do vocal warm-ups atleast for 10-15 minutes.

You do mention before an album how many track or album have you?

I released my 1st debut promo album on September 1st, 2012. I released it for free and it included 10 tracks on it. Now on March 13 I will be releasing the deluxe edition "BBOE DELUXE" which will include around 15 tracks. The original album was full of empowerment songs and I really wanted to extend that by releasing more, along with some acoustic & remix tracks

Is there anything you would do differently in your career?

Well, as of right now I would love to build my fanbase and listening audience. Other than that I'd just love to continue to grow as an artist and as a person personally.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?

I love true artists and entertainers.Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Luke James and Whitney Houston are my favorites. Along with Patti Labelle and a few others.
I love them because they KNOW how to put on a show and their music is what I grew up on. I have a passion for ENTERTAINERS

Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Yes ! I get very very nervous. But minutes into the performance my adrenaline kicks in a it fuels my performance. It's just something that takes over me during my performances. I love the feeling that I get.

Woah you love the feeling you get, what is your last word to you fans and friends?

I wanna thank my fans, who I call Tae' Society and everyone who is supporting me and my music. I can't thank everyone enough. I also wanna say, make sure you download my FREE "Broken Boundaries of Existence" album which is available on my official website Von tea
